Timber Attic Ladders

There are a number of factors you need to take into account when you are making your decision on what type of ladder you are going to install.  When looking at timber ladders, consider their load rating and the quality of the timber used.  Halfway up a ladder is not the time to discover that the timber quality is not what it should be.  Look for rebated joints (not just screwed) and timber growth lines that are tight.  Make sure you are buying something that will be safe, secure (a strong latch) and has a reputation for quality so that you are able to get parts and service if required in the future.

One of the biggest differences that you will see between models of high quality such as those below and some of the other ladders available in the market is the quality of the hatch door. These should be insulated to minimise the potential for heat transfer between the roof space and the inside of the home and should have an effective seal to prevent dust entering your home while the hatch is closed.  Have a good look at how the hatch door will look from the inside of your home.  A well finished hatch door will look sleek and modern.
